The trust involved with Leathersex leads to an intense intimacy. The intimacy can lead to a deep bond, especially in the midst of Leathersex where often one partner (a bottom) gives up control to another (a top).

The bottom is counting on the top to be a caretaker while the control is given up. In response, the top has a sacred duty to ensure that no harm comes to the bottom. This dynamic is one way to enable and invite transformative experiences.

The resulting bond that develops is spiritual in nature as a third entity is created which includes the top and the bottom, and yet is greater than the sum of them.
